Hello! Today, I will be taking apart of Ninja Captain Alex’s blogfest. The Genre Favorites Blogfest has each participant to pick their favorite genre for books, movies, music and a guilty pleasure from any of the genres! Let us get this thing started, shall we?
Books: When I was younger, I read mostly fables/fairy tales. My favorite book as a child was Aesop’s Fables. For those who never heard of Aesop’s Fables, it is a collection of stories about morals. I learned a lot from reading that book. As I grew older, my favorite genres became young adult, fantasy and dystopian are my favorite genres. Books have always been something that has always been close to my heart. To lose myself in a fantasy world the author created or to read about a new world imagined in a dystopian story. It is a treat in its own. One of my favorite authors is Sherrilyn Kenyon. She is a very good author and one of my inspirations that push me forward to continue writing my own stories.
Music: I tend to listen to anything that catches my attention, but I do have my favorite genre. Rock music is my number one favorite type of music. One of my favorite bands is UVERworld. For those who do not know, UVERworld is a J-Rock band (Japanese Rock). I also love Linkin Park, Breaking Benjamin, Queen, Green Day and 30 Seconds to Mars. Besides rock music, I do like pop music, but not just any time of pop. I like something that would make me want to get up and dance, even though my dancing sucks, lol. 80’s music is also a favorite of mine. Music is one of the key factors that help me write my stories, especially music from Enya and Breaking Benjamin.
Movies: For those that do not know, I am a HUGE movie buff. I love movies. My favorite genre is action, horror, psychological thrillers and martial art movies. Comedy movies are something that I am very wary about because not all comedy is funny to me. (I have a very different taste in comedy). Romance is so-so with me. I would never go to watch a romance movie at the theatres, but I am a huge fan of Sleeping in Seattle. One of my favorite comedy romances that I could watch repeatedly. I also do not mind some coming-of-age movies like, Now and Then.
Guilty Pleasures: Hm…most likely anything in relation to animation and martial art movies, but it has to be good enough for me to want to watch it. I am a big advocate of anime movies as well, depending on the genre and how the trailer looks. If it seems interesting, I would want to see it. If not then I would not be bothered to watch it, the same as any other movie.
I hope everyone enjoyed reading my entry on this topic!
